All over my dash today I’ve been seeing this post full of rape-prevention advice titled “Through a Rapist’s Eyes”. I first saw it I though, “Oh, potentially useful.” I almost reblogged it. And then I noticed some of the comments on it, talking about Snopes debunking it and how the creator of the list apparently just made some of the stuff up. So I did a little looking. I didn’t even have to go past the first link of the google search
The advice given in this post is BAD advice. Much of the information and statistics are just WRONG. I won’t go into detail, this article from Crisis Connection explains it better than I could.
Normally I wouldn’t do something like this, but this is pretty serious. People who follow the advice given in “Through a Rapist’s Eyes” could potentially be in a lot of danger. I apologize if I seem preachy, but…
