One of the best fanvids I’ve ever seen in my life.
Watching this was nearly literally like watching my life flash before my eyes.
Harry Potter has meant a lot to me over the years. It was the first “real” book I ever read, back when I was seven years old. It was something I shared with my father, first in person and then over the phone when my parents separated and I had to leave him. The first couple of movies came out around my birthday, if I remember correctly, one of them came out ON my birthday, and I can’t recall which I was anticipating more. I went to the midnight parties for the releases of the last three books, and stayed up reading them until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore, and then a further fifteen minutes because I kept telling myself “just one more page, then I’ll sleep”. I played through JK Rowling’s site to find hints about the seventh book, and Mugglenet was my first foray into fandom. The last movie came out the summer I graduated, and that felt more like the end of my childhood than receiving my diploma did.
Harry Potter was never just a book series to me. I can’t explain precisely what it was, but whatever it was, it was important to my childhood, to my writing style, to ME.
wow the editing in this is actually pretty goddamn fantastic
